A note to BMW (and Lexus)
It was time....there were several "issues" with Smokey, my 2007 335i coupe. Some issues had to do with the car and some with the dealerships in my area. Some had to do with BMW. Some were mine.
So, in searching for a replacement I looked at a 2010 Volvo hardtop convertible. Nice! But the dealer wouldn't offer enough on my trade and wouldn't deal that much - so it seemed.
On 2 December I was on my way home from visiting the Volvo dealer when I thought I would stop Rancho Grande Motors in SLO and look at....Cadillacs. Never got that far. I drove a 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 (V8). End of story. Amazing, plus the dealer was willing to work with me!
It combines all that is great from BMW and Lexus for thousands of dollars less. If I was concerned about status l would buy a BMW badge and stick it on the trunk.
I still admire BMW cars. They have been - until fairly recently - the gold standard of automobile. I hope my Bimmer buddies will still let me drive with them - at least as the official photog!

In N Out!

There is some good news tonight for any local folks out there who love In-N-Out burgers.
The Arroyo Grande In-N-Out location opens Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. Friends and family members of the staff got a sneak peak at the popular burger joint Monday night.
There were plenty of people waiting on the outside of the restaurant too. There is already a line of people who plan to camp outside overnight to be the first to get a taste.

November 21 - SF Auto Show Meetup. Come check out the 2011 line-up of manufacturers from around the world at the annual San Francisco International Auto Show. The plan is to meet at the BMW booth at 1pm and then make our way around the show. Admission is $9.00 and can be purchased when you arrive. December 4 - No Fault Tour to Parkfield. Join us for a tour of some excellent driving roads in north San Luis Obispo county, along the San Andreas fault line. There will be a caravan from Arroyo Grande which will meet at 9:30 a.m. before heading north for brunch at the Country Diner in San Miguel, or just meet us there at 10:30. After brunch we'll get on the road to explore the back roads before ending the tour at The Grill at Parkfield's V6 Ranch in Parkfield for coffee and dessert.

December 5 - Rhone Ranger Tour & Drive. We have just a few spots left for our Rhone Ranger Tour & Drive. We will start with a spirited, 3-hour drive through the Santa Cruz Mountains and Big Basin followed by a stop for a catered lunch buffet, vineyard tour, and wine tasting overlooking the hills and mountain ridges at Big Basin Vineyards. Upon arrival at the winery we will take a short tour of the vineyards and then sample 5 wines specifically paired with our catered lunch buffet. Price is $26/person. Register now! December 11 - Peninsula Meet & Greet. Our Peninsula meet-and-greet social event at Auto Vino will be a unique opportunity that you won't want to miss. Located in Menlo Park, Auto Vino offers the Peninsula area a state-of-the-art facility for storing exotic collector cars, fine wine and cigars. It also serves as a car and wine enthusiast social club. The facility includes a 2,000 sq foot club area, pool table, VCSims Racing Simulators with 180-degree screen, cigar lounge, wine bar, and a full-production winery all housed within a secured, temperature-controlled 20,000 sq ft showroom. Event begins at 10am with an optional BBQ starting at noon, and Woodside Vineyards will be hosting a barrel tasting beginning at 1pm in its on-site tasting room at Auto Vino, for those who would like to stay on after the Meet & Greet event. It will be another grand celebration with dinner, raffle prizes, volunteer appreciation awards, year-end autocross awards, and the introduction of your 2011 GGC Board members. Delicious dinner menu choices await and we've kept the cost in line with last year's price: $48/person. Our February Board meeting begins at 4pm, the big party starts at 5pm, and we have the place until 11pm.
