Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic

By Dennis Harrold: The Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic on September 18 & 19, 2010 recreated an iconic photo taken in 1929.  The PBMC started with scenic motorcycle rides from Northern and Southern California.  The rides concluded in Oceano, CA, for a rally to kick off the festivities from 1p.m to 8 p.m.  The PBMC wrapped up on Sunday for a panoramic photo capturing an estimated 600 motorcycle enthusiasts on beautiful Pismo Beach, most dressed in gear for the occasion.

Harris Grade/Jalama Beach Run 18 Sept 2010

Central Coast BMW enthusiasts hit the road for a jaunt to Jalama Beach, destination the Jalama Beach Burger Shack.  Our day belied the words of famous Welshman Gwyn Thomas, who suggested that "the joy is in the walking..........we are betrayed by destinations."  I suspect he would feel differently had he sampled a Jalama Burger, and why walk if you can get behind the wheel of a modern BMW?  In the case of Jalama Beach Road the drive really is the deal, with 150 turns each way as it winds from Highway 1 south of Lompoc.  We were joined on this day by guests from the Bay Area, Bakersfield, and a contingent of Z-roadsters and coupes from Southern California.  Final tally was 15 cars and 23 people, an enjoyable outing with some really nice folks.  Thanks to all who participated!
